How do you secure gates?Updated 16 days ago
Gates can typically be accommodated without any special installation hardware or components. However, exactly how gates are treated will be dependent on the gate's swing direction and configuration, and the type of mesh material you choose.
There are generally two main ways to secure gates (shown with curved extensions, although the same principles apply to straight extensions):
1. Gates that swing inward AND use poly mesh
An extension is needed on the latch side of the gate and a second extension should be placed directly next to it on the fence's latch post. The extension on the gate will move with the gate when it opens and the poly mesh will "bunch" on the hinge side of the gate when the gate is open.
2. Gates that swing outward OR use welded wire mesh (regardless of swing direction)
One extension is needed on each side of the gate itself. Then, one extension should be on the hinge post and another on the latch post so you end up with two sets of two extensions side-by-side. The mesh is cut in between each set to free the gate. The section attached to the gate will move with the gate when it opens and closes.
