Can vertical fence extensions be used for deer exclusion?Updated 2 months ago

Our Standard Fence Extension System can add up to 3 feet of height to an existing fence, which can be helpful in preventing deer from jumping the fence. In most regions, fencing is recommended to be between 6-8 feet tall for deer exclusion.

The poly mesh fence material that we offer with the system is actually deer fence material that has an impact rating of about 600 lbs (the upgraded welded wire mesh has an impact rating of about 1100 lbs). The zip ties that secure the mesh to the extensions is 120 lb test. But if your primary goal is to exclude deer, then you may consider attaching the mesh to the outside of the extensions rather than the inside. This ensures that if a deer makes impact, the mesh is able to push against the extensions instead of possibly pulling away (if the mesh were attached on the inside). It will offer a little added strength. 🙂
